I have always been mesmerized by jellyfish. Growing up on Vancouver Island, I spent a lot of time at the beach, and was regularly in the presence of small moon jellies. When I would go fishing with my grandpa near Deep Bay I was always bent over the side of the boat watching them, mesmerized.
I love how, in the darkness of the water, the jellyfish bring the light from within. As a painter, I love exploring light and how it behaves in a variety of environments, which made this painting a pleasure to create.
